An Aquilaria tree produces nothing worth burning until something goes wrong with it. Injure the wood: a broken branch, a fungal infection, and the tree floods the wound with dark resin to defend itself. Years later, that resin-soaked heartwood is agarwood. A healthy tree makes none of it.
The same warm resin as the sticks, but denser. A cone burns hotter and gives up its scent faster — the sweetness comes forward, the woodiness sits behind it, and the whole thing arrives at once rather than unfolding slowly.
Ours is made from agarwood powder and natural plant resin in Khanh Hoa, Vietnam.
A cone burns for about 30 minutes with a fuller presence in the room.
